Executive Management Team

Stephen H. Neff, President and Chief Executive Officer

Stephen H. Neff serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Aviv Centers for Living. Neff brings over 27 years of experience in healthcare, social service administration and finance to his position. Prior to his post at Aviv, Neff was the President and Chief Executive Officer of New Island Hospital in New York, as well as the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Affinity Health Alliance in Maryland. Neff also was the Chief Financial Officer for both Jewish Social Service Agency of Greater Washington and Hadley Memorial Hospital. He also served as the Director of Finance and Administration of Greater Southeast Consulting, Inc., the long-term care division of Greater Southeast Healthcare System.

Neff began his career at Regardie, Brook and Lewis, a regional CPA firm, after receiving his BS in Business and Management from the University of Maryland. He later received his MBA in Health and Medical Services Administration from Widener University.

Stephen has an outstanding roster of leadership and professional activities including serving various boards of directors and executive committees as well as teaching in distinguished healthcare, education and civic venues.

 

Matt Weinstock, Chief Operating Officer

Matt Weinstock was appointed Administrator of the Jewish Rehabilitation Center in 2001 with oversight of resident care, operations, and staff and community development. In 2007, Matt was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Aviv. He has over 30 years of executive experience in directing operations at leading senior care organizations across the country. Matt is a licensed LTC Administrator and received his Masters of Public Administration at Syracuse University.

 

Kim Richardson, Chief Financial Officer

Kim Richardson joined Aviv Centers for Living in 1998 and was named Chief Financial Officer at Aviv Centers for Living in 2000. Before that, she had been a Senior Financial Analyst at Partners Healthcare System, and Budget & Reimbursement Manager for the ADS Group, specialists in elder care services. She has over 15 years of experience on the finance side of the senior care industry. Kim has a Masters in Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire State University.

 

Michael Hammerschmidt, Chief Development Officer

Michael Hammerschmidt is the Chief Development Officer at Aviv. He brings over 30 years of professional development experience and consulting to universities and health care institutions. Most recently he served as the Executive Director, North America for the National Institute for Psychobiology in Israel and as Principal at PhilanthropyGlobal, a consultant to nonprofit organizations. Hammerschmidt has also held Senior Executive Development positions at New England Aquarium, Bentz Whaley Flessner (BWF), California State University, Northridge, Tulane Law School, and Brandeis University. Hammerschmidt has been involved in leading, staffing or consulting on over a dozen major campaigns totaling over $1 billion, ranging in size from $7.5 million to $250 million.

He first came to Massachusetts as an undergraduate at Brandeis University. He has also studied at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education and Brandeis University’s Heller Graduate School.

 

Terry Halliday, Senior Director of Business Development

Terry Halliday is the Senior Director of Business Development at Aviv. Prior to her appointment, Halliday served as Vice President of Business Development at Medstar Ambulance Services, Director of Business Development American Medical Response NorthEast, Director of Marketing at Ambulance Systems of America-Chaulk Ambulance and Manager at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. She is a recipient of the National Team Leader of the Year Award and has been a presenter at numerous healthcare forums around the nation. She received her Master's in Health Care Administration and BA in Liberal Studies from Framingham State College.

  

Jeffrey Gopen, Executive Director, Jewish Rehabilitation Center

Jeffrey Gopen became Executive Director of the Jewish Rehabilitation Center in 2008. Prior to that, he was Assistant Administrator and Director of Rehabilitation Services at the JRC. His career in health care and business administration spans 19 years. Jeff received his Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions and is a licensed LTC Administrator.

 

June Davis, Director, Shapiro-Rudolph Adult Day Health Center

June Davis has been the Director of the Shapiro-Rudolph Adult Day Health Center for 19 years. She brings over three decades of experience in the health care field to her post and has been instrumental in the development and growth of the Adult Day Health Center since its launch. June began her career with Aviv Centers for Living as a consultant to the Jewish Rehabilitation Center  Resident Life department and served as a Recreational Therapist at the Adult Day Health Center.  June also is known in the community as an entrepreneur and small business owner. She holds a BA from Boston University in Sociology, and an MS in Recreational Therapy from Northeastern University. She is a certified Alzheimer’s Trainer (Trained by the Alzheimer’s Association).
